Located off Thomas Point at the mouth of the South River on Chesapeake Bay, Thomas Point Shoal Light Station stands guard over a shoal that juts out from Thomas Point. Constructed in 1875, it is the only screw-pile lighthouse in the bay which stands on its original site. I've sailed by it many times.
